Kate and Geoff took their vows on a damp and chilly May afternoon in Colorado.
During the first look photos before the ceremony, it started drizzling outside. The couple was feeling a bit nervous about an outdoor ceremony. After all, it had snowed just the day before.
“We really wanted the ceremony to be outside,” says Kate. “For the most part, our families do not live in Colorado and we wanted them to experience the spectacular backdrop that the Manor House has.”
As luck would have it, the weather cleared up just in time for the ceremony. A huge Beatles fan, Kate walked down the aisle to “Here Comes the Sun.”
“I didn’t know it at the time, but all of my guests told me that as soon as I started to walk down the aisle, the sun came out,” Kate says. “Our friends and family still talk about it!”
Now, that’s magical!
Their Story
Kate and Geoff first connected via the online dating app OK Cupid while living in New York City. Geoff asked Kate on a date – well, two dates to be exact. Each time, Kate cancelled last minute. Several months later, he caught her looking his dating profile. He asked her out a third time but this time around, he asked her to commit to making plans two nights in a row, just in case she cancelled again. She agreed.
Meanwhile, Kate had her own suspicions.
“Geoff’s dating profile said that he was 6’5″ and I didn’t believe it,” she tells us. “I purposely wore my highest heels on our first date (puts me at about 5’11”) to verify. As soon as I got next to him I realized he was in fact, telling the truth.”
So funny!
Needless to say, a little faith goes a long way. This lovely couple will soon be celebrating their one year wedding anniversary – a BIG congrats to Kate and Geoff!
Thank you for letting us share your love story.

“The designer, Michele Corty, was doing a trunk show at a & be and actually helped me pick out my dress. It was a surreal experience that definitely made up for the fact that my Mom was unable to go dress shopping with me in person.”
“Geoff’s favorite memory was our first look. I almost ruined the surprise of my dress because I had a hard time keeping it a secret from him. He came up the stairs from the Groom’s suite and into the library with tears in his eyes. He was so happy to see me and loved my dress choice.”
“My uncle Brian volunteered to officiate our wedding after we had all had a few drinks one night, despite never having officiated before. We were surprised the following day when he called offering [again], so we took him up on it. He did a spectacular job, and we were so happy to have him participate in such an important role on our big day.”
About the couple: Geoff is from southern New Jersey and works in IT. Kate’s from Chicago and is a nurse manager for the UCHealth Emergency Department.
“[The Manor House] was the first venue we saw in person and we both knew immediately that it was the one for us.”
